The skimboard is a sport similar to surf, using a table that lets you navigate quickly through thin layers of water. It originated off the coast of California in the 20′s. Lifeguards, used thin wooden boards to move quickly taking advantage of the aquaplaning effect. Since then, the sport has grown steadily to the point of being common to see dozens of skimboarders in virtually any beach in the world.
