The Macaronesia crew is formed by twenty young men from Tenerife (Canary Islands), a sailing team which is willing to take on the world. This group of friends has two decades of experience behind them, and they stand out for the passion with which they devote themselves to fulfill their dream, fighting against wind and tide.
The air in their faces, the sails hoisted, heart, music and flow. This is the way in which the Macaronesia‘s guys prepare themselves before heading out to the sea, braving the elements that cross their path. Sailing is their passion, their meeting point and their way of life.
Álvaro Cuadrado, one of the membership, says “Our greatest achievement is to continue sailing together after 20 years with the same essence and values”. However, they have a great trajectory having won several Championships and Copa de España Zona Canarias tournaments. Furthermore, they were at the top15 of the last european championship. Although they think that it is impossible to highlight only one award to be proud of, they feel special esteem for their second place in the Corinthians Cup at the last Copa del Rey in Palma, and also for the Regata Huelva La Gomera, among others.
These sailors say they are living a dream and they can only grit their teeth and smile. This guys prefer to leave the hard times far away and keep the good ones at sea. Also they like to focus on giving the best of themselves with generosity, humility and learning from mistakes. The secret is getting excited, enjoy the sunset and feeling that you’re in the place you want to be. Álvaro adds: “Sometimes we like to remember the poem ‘If’ by Rudyard Kipling before we go the sail: If you can fill the unforgiving minute with sixty seconds’ worth of distance run, yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it, and – which is more – you’ll be a Man, my son!”.
So we’re proud to announce the Macaronesia Sailing Team as our Badtoro of the month, and we want to give them our maximum support to their next challenges: the Barcelona ORC World Championship and the Copa del Rey. Ride the victory guys!
